I barely knew how to use the camera during the beginning of the class, it wasn't just a lack of technical knowledge either, it looks like I didn't know how to point the camera. I only realized how bad it was when I looked through my trash bin of photos from the first few days I took photos. Now it seems so easy to fix that photo, just change the aperture. I'd like to believe that I got better at the end. Here is an example of one of my oldest (worst) photos next to one of my more recent (better) photos: But my favorite part of this class is the photoshop portion. I just really liked photoshop, although I couldn't point to just one thing that I liked about it. I think I like the options, it allows you to do almost anything to an image. Some of what I consider to be my best and most creative work come from the photoshop portion. Here is one of the first photoshops I did compared to a few of my best: In conclusion, I really liked this class. It was different from my other classes in flow, and in the fact that this class was actually self paced.

The final product of this assignment was supposed a strip of 3 puns, each one visually trying to represent the puns. I liked this assignment because of the creativity. What I learnedI learned only little, but this assignment was quite fun. I did get some more practice with selection tools and combining layers. I also practiced some with gradient.
The goal of this assignment was to take a photo that represents an animal's personality, as well as being a decent photo. I liked this assignment, as who doesn't enjoy taking photos of their pet? ISO: 200 Aperture: 3.5 Shutter speed: 1/60 No editing What I learnedThe goal of this assignment was to find and do photoshop tutorials to increase our skills in photoshop. I found two rather good tutorials and edited according to their directions. The first tutorial showed how to create mythical scenery from a normal photo. https://photoshopstar.com/mythical-scenery-photoshop/ Here is the before photo for the first one: And here is the after: The second one was called "Water Head Manipulation" which involves messing with the head of the model and putting water in it. Here is the before: And here is the after: What I learnedDuring this assignment I learned how to use the pen tool, a very useful tool for created curves that you don't what do freehand. I also learned blending options for layers, as well as the circular selection tool. After a bit of research I managed to figure out how to download and use brushes that aren't normally in photoshop. I also learned how to make my own brush presets.
The goal of this assignment is to show food and make your mouth water. This photo is unedited. ISO: 200 F3.5 1/20 What I learnedDuring this assignment I learned how to get the camera close to a subject without touching the subject (a camera covered in cheese and barbecue is a bad idea) and take photos with almost no light. It was hard to get a photo with the proper focus because I worried about getting too close to the food. But in the end, I liked the finished product.
The goal of this assignment was to get photo with multiple versions of a person. That was accomplished by taking multiple photos with that person in the same place, then layering them in photoshop and using the mask. The hardest part of this assignment was taking the photos themselves, as you couldn't move the camera, change the exposure, or overlap the person if you wanted it to end up right. The photoshop portion was far easier, only requiring 2 steps, the layering and the mask. What I learnedWhen taking the photos I learned the importance of checking what was in the frame of the photo. I also learned more about the tripod, such as learning where to put it and getting it ready. In photoshop I learned about the mask, which is very useful you have many layers. I also learned how to get multiple images in the same layer, which will be very useful.
The goal of this assignment was to take a photo that represents the relationship of shadows and light. Here is the finished product for photo 5: ISO:400 Aperture: f/3.5 Shutter Speed of 1/30 of a second It was edited with a tinted black and white photo. Here is the original: And following are some other examples of Shadows and Light: What I learnedI learned how to take a photo with a strong light source behind the main subject as well as learn how to use levels and black and white.
The goal of this assignment was to take a photo of the school, and then change the context using photoshop. The main purpose of this assignment was to teach us how to get photos from the internet and put that into a photo and edit it from there. I had to make shadows, change the background, add a filter in the form of low opacity clouds, and change the image size so that certain images will fit over each other. First, the original: The edited: What I learned/OpinionI really liked this assignment. It really focused on photoshop and allowed us to do what we wanted instead of just following instructions from a piece of paper. It allowed us to creative and do what we want. I also learned a lot about photoshop and really got used to its tools.
The purpose of this assignment was to take a photo of an aspect of nature and try to show the natural state of what you are taking a photo of. ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/50 Aperture: F3.5 The photo is unedited. What I learnedDuring this assignment I learned how to get very close to a subject without casting a shadow on the subject. I felt that this assignment was rather easy, because it is quite hard to make flowers look bad.
The goal of this assignment was to make 5 panoramas using photo-merge in Photoshop. Each pano had to have a minimum of 3 photos. Each photo had to have a 40% overlap to make a panoramic. What I learnedDuring this assignment I learned how to make panoramic photos, of course. I also learned how to use a tripod during this assignment. I learned the importance of image size and especially its relationship with text boxes.
