For this assignment, I had to take photos of architecture. I went to Detroit and took a tour of one of the older building in downtown, which had a lot of good photos. ISO:100 Aperture: 3.5 Shutter Speed: 1/13 This photo is slightly edited, mainly to eliminate a glare in the top left corner. The only change you can see is a slight distortion in one of the lighted areas. Here are some other good photos of Architecture: What I learnedDue to the fact that the inside of the building was really dark, I had to start messing with ISO in combination with the other variables of the camera. I also need to learn how not get glare in my photos, but due to this assignment I have learned how to edit out part of the glare.

The purpose of this assignment was to make a popart with 4 photos and color each photo differently. The assignment involved unsharpening the the mask, changing the threshold, and changing the hue/saturation. Original photo: Formal popart: Less formal popart: What I learnedDuring this assignment I learned that there are more tools available in photoshop using the drop down menu, which is very important considering how there are literally dozens of more options in the menu. I also learned how to put one image in another image.
For photo 2 I hope take a photo of architecture in Detroit. I want take pictures of some interiors as well as get some photos of the city itself. I also feel that the pictures taken for architecture could easily be changed into B/W.
There are a lot of good ones from here: https://www.mlive.com/entertainment/2017/03/detroit_architectural_landmark.html A good one of buildings: https://www.thrillist.com/lifestyle/detroit/detroits-best-architecture The assignment for this photo was to take a picture of a landscape. This photo was taken with an aperture of f/8, a shutter speed of 1/50 of a second, and an ISO of 100. This assignment went better than I thought it would. I thought that due to the overcast weather the photos would be worse but the photos turned out very nicely. Even with the clouds there was a lot of light so I had to learn how to get a good exposure when taking these photos.
For my first week of shooting photos I will take pictures of landscapes. There is a river and bridge in my neighborhood I want to take a photo of river from the bridge at dusk or dawn. I am also interesting in taking a photo of the shadows in the forest in the same neighborhood at dusk or dawn.
Some examples for landscapes that I want to take inspiration from are: https://chadforeman.com/photography-portfolio/double-z-sunset/landscape-photography-river-zzhdr/ https://www.southernplainsphotography.com/wyoming-landscape-photography.html (Snake River Revival) Some examples for the pictures of shadows in the forest are: https://www.goodfon.com/wallpaper/les-rassvet-derevya-solnce.html https://videohive.net/item/pan-forest-at-dawn-2/3313117 I think all of these photos make good use of shadows and lighting, and a captures the reflection of the water very well. I want to take the landscapes with a slow shutter speed so that the water has a silky look to it. Shutter SpeedThese photos are meant to show the difference between a high shutter speed and a low shutter speed. A high shutter speed freezes the action, like the bottom left, while a low shutter speed shows motion blur, like in the top left with the water. ApertureThese photos are meant to show how aperture can change depth of field. In the top left, with an aperture of 3.5, the cars and the brick wall are out of focus, where on the bottom right almost all of the photo is in focus. QuestionsA fast shutter speed does what to an image?
A fast shutter speed freezes the action and makes the image darker. A slow shutter speed causes what effect on an image? It causes motion blur and makes the image brighter. A large aperture causes what effect on an image? It makes the photo have a shallow depth of field and brightens the image. A small aperture causes what effect on an image? It causes the photo to have a deep depth of field, focusing on things farther in the background while decreasing the amount of light. This assignment was to find different elements of photography, and well, photograph them. This assignment took a while for me because some (like Framing) seem to be hard to find in a school environment. However, in the end, I found all of the photos. Some elements, like perspective, are simpler than others, like texture or balance. The elements each picture represents, left to right, top to bottom: Color, Balance, Lines, Pattern, Rule of Thirds, Space, Texture, Depth of Field, Symmetry, Framing, and Perspective. ReflectionI liked this assignment. It was fun, and it allowed me to learn how to use the camera. It was also a nice application of the knowledge that we took notes on. My only issue with this assignment is how some types of photos are hard to get while at school, but that can be easily fixed by taking a camera. It was a great intro into ways to make your photography better and it was a nice way to get used to uploading the pictures and using the computer.
Hello, I am Sam Nixon. I enjoy reading and sleeping. I have 2 sisters and a Mom and Dad. I also like food. I took this class because when I had my schedule changed I liked the concept of this class. I don't have any experience in photography, I have only taken photos with my smartphone for fun.
